CT General CT imaging for inpatients and outpatients are performed on two Multi-slice CT scanners.
The CT scanner takes ‘slices’ of the body and produces an image of this ‘slice’ it is very useful in staging cancers, or helping to plan surgery for complicated broken bones as it can produce very detailed images of a large part of the body in a short space of time.
The slices can be put together to make a 3D reconstruction.
MRI There are two MRI scanners, a static unit in the in the main department and a mobile unit that images a wide range of body areas, including routine musculoskeletal and neurological imaging as well as liver, abdominal, head and neck and breast imaging.
